If you're happy with a Mac, I'd recommend Option 1 or Option 2, for the reasons of compatibility and familiarity.

Option 3 is likely to add significant frustration due to the differences between Mac & Windows, and the unexpected costs of replacing software / finding equivalents.

The choice between 1) and 2) comes down mostly to:

* Do you have the extra money for Option 1)
* Do you consider the additional memory & warranty (peace of mind) worth the price difference?
* Do you consider the opportunity cost acceptable?(ie what you'd not be able to buy if you went with a new MacBook vs if you had the extra money from going with the refurb option)
* How long do you want / expect the Macbook to last? If you're going long term (3 years plus), the new one with warranty is a better option, but at a third of the price, you could replace the refurb one sooner (eg in two years) if you needed.
* Is there any way you can get a warranty on a refurbished Macbook, either via AppleCare or third party? If so, that may be the best compromise.

Good luck!

prk.
