Miss Marjoribanks - OMG LUCILLA IS MY HERO! What an absolute boss. Actually lots of the women in it are so great, they're so complicated and interesting. The way they interact with each other is well done, it's such a multi-dimensional view on female friendship. And I just love Oliphant's clever eye and her pithy phrasing - she cracks me up basically once a page. :D
Yes! Oliphant is up there with Austen in the use of irony for me. So incredibly funny.
And Lucilla rocks! Gets what she wants, arranges things for everyone, a champion!
