Being in the Captain America fandom has led me to Thomas Paine. Did you know that Roosevelt quoted from his Crisis when he made his great speech to rally the people against fascism after Pearl Harbour?


'These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.’


Bucky Barnes, future Winter Soldier, would have heard that.

oooh. I kinda hope that someone grabs that idea, and writes it (or that if they already have, that I get to read it). I just don't have the kind of background to be able to do it myself.

There definitely are fics with this idea. But which? Have been mainlining them so I am now confused.
