1, Mum’s back operation seems to have gone well. The surgeon did more than he had originally intended. Very good news.
2, Mother’s day picnic at the zoo was lovely, plus I scored some great hugs.
3, Although there is no official Boaty McBoatface, the little undersea explorer attached to the David Attenborough is called Boaty. The people have spoken!!!
Also, reading about the Boaty McBoatface democracy debacle has informed me that during World War Two there was a whole class of ‘flower’ ships in the British Navy. There were actual men who served in the war aboard the HMS *Buttercup*, possibly the least macho name ever. I am in love with the complete refusal to perform traditional masculinity while simultaneously performing traditional masculinity.
I also discovered there was an ‘insect’ class during World War One, which included the HMS *Cockchafer*, apparently an insect but also a deeply amusing single entendre.
In light of all this, *Boaty McBoatface* seems like a totally normal name for a boat.
