Hooray for Pearl!
Oct. 7th, 2010 09:03 pmWe saw the paediatrician today and, like me, he was *blown away* by her development in the last six months. She is doing so well with her gross motor skills and her speech and emotional development are just a pleasure to see.
Her vitamin D levels were fine - she has been on a holding dose for the past six months. The only bad news was that her iron levels have plumeted again. She went from 80 units last time to 7, so it is back on an iron supplement and there will be possibly be a bit of an exploration of why she is having so much trouble maintaining her levels.
The paediatrician suggested it might be that she does not eat enough meat and it is true that she eats very little. OTOH, she eats very little in general. Today she had a typical lunch - five finger tip sized bits of corn, a small box of sultanas, 15 grams of cheese. But it had not even occurred to me to worry about this beforehand, as this is so much more than she used to eat. Before she could walk (when she was using very little energy), she would eat maybe a tablespoon of solid food each day.
So happy dances all round.
