Update on Ruby
Feb. 3rd, 2012 09:26 amMostly to remind me in the future, Ruby has had a spectacular burst of growth. She can bottom shuffle now and is much happier that she is mobile. Unlike Pearl she can also crawl and sometimes does, though often she will bunny hop both legs forward together because that gives her greater stability with her poor muscle tone.
She now has a vocab of five words she uses a lot and a few others she has said once or twice. She can say yes, no, there (in response to the question where is it), Mummum and Nannan.
She is very fond of games which involve passing objects back and forth and putting them into and out of boxes. Also, eating them. I have never seen a child who eats as much dirt as she does - she seems to relish it.
The physio says her muscle tone is even worse than Pearl's was. It was quite interesting hearing her talk to another physio about Ruby as they were constantly contrasting her with a child with cerebal palsy and pointing out that the muscle movements are controlled, just really weak. I felt really lucky.
