6 Things + 3 Things
Jul. 30th, 2012 07:15 pmA set for the weekend and today:
1, I visited *Bardie_Grub* and *Short_Black* twice in the space of two days.
2, I enjoyed the bits of the Olympic opening ceremony that I saw. I always like critiquing the clothes in the parade of nations. Points this year to the glittery wellie boots with shorts combination.
3, I read the Laurie King’s *Pirate King* which combines *The Pirates of Penzance*, 1920s silent films and Sherlock Holmes into a really fabulous froth. Despite what they say about retail therapy not working, I am very much enjoying the trickle of books arriving at my door one by one.
4, I have also read an overview of Louise Bourgeois’ art and life. She really defies categorisation as her career has lasted so long and not fitted into any category. Reading art books always inspires me and makes me want to be more creative.
5, On several occasions, Ruby has taken one or two unassisted steps. This is very exciting. It would be great if she could walk before she is two. I don’t know why, but this seems like an important thing in my mind.
6, I have harvested a second crop of mushrooms. The last ones were amazingly good on pizza.
7, I finished a piece of art last night.
8, I used my neighbour’s dehydrator to make some apple chips which were, frankly, amazing. We eat a lot of dried apple so I may try again to build up a little stock while the cost of apples is low.
9, I have enjoyed the scraps of the Olympics which I have seen. We no longer have a TV but I’ve glimpsed a bit. I never used to care for sport but I watched a lot of the last Olympics while I was breastfeeding Pearl, and it was really interesting to watch sports I had never seen or even knew existed and contemplating the massive range of really fit bodies.
