House

Right. So much has been happening.

The house I put the offer on has sold to someone else. This is a real shame as it was in many ways ideal. Also, poof, there goes all the money spent on title searches etc.

OTOH, it would have strained my budget massively. Staying where we are is certainly an easier option financially.

The current plan is to continue to try to sell my house. However, I am becoming increasingly convinced that it is not what the market wants. Not entirely sure what to do if it really is unsellable. Keep living in it, I suppose. Shame about any hope of retirement in that case.

I continue to be unimpressed with Purple Bricks and I will be hosting no further home opens. If people want to come, they can but I cannot live my life in the state of tension we have been in. I will (gulp) eventually have to move everything taken out back into the house. I am so very sorry, people who have nobly taken my stuff.

OTOH, I look forward to being able to watch my own DVDs, listen to my own CDs and access my own art supplies. They say when you declutter it makes you not want the stuff anymore – NOT SO.

I had a dream last night that started out as a very interesting discussion. I was being interviewed about domestic fiction, and I was talking about how revolutionary and feminist it was to have the daily lives of girls as the centre of books like *Anne of Green Gables* and *Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm*.

But then – horrors – I looked down and saw a defaced passport in my hand. And I was arrested for destroying documents, though it was just something I had idly picked up.

I interpret this as being about buying a house – being happy – and then having the whole thing unravel and feeling as though I was the victim of circumstances.
