19th century book club - next year
Nov. 1st, 2009 06:38 pmI've been thinking of various ways of running the 19th century book club next year. Here are some options that occurred to me (though you may come up with a much better one):
* Running it in exactly the same way. If so, I nominate some Dickens as I only just noticed that we haven't done any. Maybe *Oliver Twist* or *Great Expectations*.
* Rotating the leadership of the discussion so that different people take on different books. I like this idea as it is quite a lot of work to do all of them.
* Reading 19th century books by women. George Eliot, George Sand, the Brontes, Austen, Elizabeth Gaskell, Louisa May Alcott, Harriet Beecher Stowe. There's a lot of talent there.
* Reading 19th century books in the sf&f genre. *Frankenstein*, *Dracula*, *Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde*.
Please feel free to make suggestions!
