Norma K Hemming Award!

emma_in_dreamRemember the Norma K Hemming Award for excellence in the exploration of race, gender, class and sexuality in Australian speculative fiction or related arts and media? The inaugural presentation of which will take place at the ‘other-than-Hugo-Awards’ ceremonies at Aussiecon 4 (68th Worldcon at Melbourne).
In addition to the presentation, the following events at Aussiecon 4 will celebrate the advent of this important new award:
· A reading from Norma Hemming’s last play *The Matriarchy of Renok* scripted by Sean McMullen, with costumed readers and retro-1950s visual imagery by artist Lewis P Morley;
· The launch by Helen Merrick of an anthology of Norma Hemming’s stories edited by Dr Toby Burrows, Head of the Scholars Centre at the University of Western Australia; and
· Publication in the Aussiecon 4 Souvenir Book of the attached half page ad giving a historical perspective to the Award to complement the Norma Hemming biography, details of the award named in her honour and entry rules for submissions to the 2010 award in the ASFF website http://home.vicnet.net.au/~asff/hemming.htm.
