This is why I can't have nice things

I went to the Picasso to Warhol exhibition today. I liked it - though I find modern art something to appreciate intellectually rather than emotionally.
My favourite was Louise Bourgeouis whose textile work was much more exciting in person than it is in reproductions in books.
My least favourite moments were when Ruby lunged at a Miro sculpture. And when Pearl broke a toy pig at the art gallery store. A $450 ceramic pig.
I just have to accept that I can never go anywhere nice. I just need to accept that.

(My sister's kids are ten and thirteen, and my sister and her husband NAP. During the DAY, while the kids are awake. And they sleep in later than their younger kid. I seriously forget that such things are even possible. But that's only, like, five years away. My point is: this too shall pass, and pretty soon our kid won't be caught dead going anywhere with us, ceramic pigs or no.)
