I love reading sites like Kids in the Studio (http://abh21.wordpress.com/), Tinkerlab (http://tinkerlab.com/) and Let the Children Play (http://progressiveearlychildhoodeducation.blogspot.com.au/).
But I rarely have the time and energy to make any of the complicated things they show. Bugs_Jenny told me about frozen balloons and they really are easy.
Steps - you put small tokens inside a balloon. Your child helps you fill the balloon with water. You freeze it. Your child plays with it the next day.
